Maximize Your Food Benefit Card Before It's Too Late!

Are you making the most of your Medicare Advantage benefits? If you're eligible for a food benefit card, you may receive extra funds to help pay for groceries—but only if you're enrolled in the right plan! Time is running out to make changes, and March is your LAST CHANCE to switch plans before new restrictions take effect.

Who Qualifies for a Food Benefit Card?

The food benefit card is available to eligible Medicare Advantage enrollees who meet certain criteria, including:

  • Low Income or Medicaid Assistance: Individuals with limited income or those who qualify for Medicaid assistance.

  • Dual Eligibility: Those who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid.

  • Enrollment in a Plan Offering Food Benefits: Some plans include food benefits as part of their coverage.

  • Chronic Health Conditions: Individuals with certain chronic health conditions that qualify for a Chronic Condition Special Needs Plan (C-SNP).

Don’t be a statistic!

Millions of Americans aren’t getting the benefits they are entitled to!

Qualifying Chronic Conditions for C-SNPs:

  • Diabetes Mellitus: Both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

  • Chronic Heart Failure: Conditions where the heart doesn't pump blood as well as it should.

  • Cardiovascular Disorders: Including but not limited to:

    • Cardiac arrhythmias

    • Coronary artery disease

    • Peripheral vascular disease

    • Chronic venous thromboembolic disorder

  • Chronic Lung Disorders: Such as:

    • Asthma

    • Chronic bronchitis

    • Emphysema

  • End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD): Requiring dialysis.

  • Neurologic Disorders: Including:

    • Multiple sclerosis

    • Parkinson’s disease

    • Stroke-related neurologic deficits

  • Autoimmune Disorders: Such as:

    • Rheumatoid arthritis

    • Systemic lupus erythematosus

  • Cancer: Excluding pre-cancer conditions or in-situ status.

  • HIV/AIDS: Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome.

This list is not exhaustive. Other chronic conditions may also qualify. Not all plans qualify based off of the whole list. It's essential to consult with us, your licensed insurance producer, to assess your eligibility.

Not every Medicare Advantage plan includes a food benefit card, and not everyone qualifies. But we can still work to put more money in your pocket! That’s why it’s crucial to review your eligibility now and ensure you're not missing out on this valuable benefit.

You Can Only Make Changes During OEP and AEP

If you're not currently in a plan that offers a food benefit card or need better coverage, you must act fast! There are only two times a year when you can change your Medicare Advantage plan:

  • Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): October 15 to December 7

  • Open Enrollment Period (OEP): January 1 to March 31 (This is your LAST CHANCE before the window closes!)

Once OEP ends, most people won’t be able to make any changes to their plan until the next AEP in October. That means if you don’t act now, you could be stuck without access to food benefits for the rest of the year!
